Can't access Site, and can't seem to access config.php after local update

When I try and log into my site on local I get the following information. " Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost . This could mean your host’s database server is down.

  • Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
  • Are you sure you have typed the correct hostname?
  • Are you sure the database server is running?"

This is the second site on local that this has happened to. I am new at this and did some research and it said to go into my config.php file to see if the login credentials were correct. I’m really not sure how to do that. This is a site I just finished for a client and now can’t get access to and am freaking out. It happened after I updated the new version of local. There seems to be no support number to call. I would pay for the software if I could get support for it. Worried if use this platform for other sites will have same issues. Please help!!!

Hey @lisal

Oh no! That sounds like Local wasn’t able to finish setting up the WordPress site for you!

Can you answer a few questions:

  • What Operating System are you using?
  • What version of the Operating System is installed?
  • Can you please provide your Local Log? See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:

I actually had someone at flywheel look at the log file and they said it did not seem to be the problem. Then I opened a service ticket and they said for me to export the site but with won’t let me. it says something like database won’t allow the dump.
