Error Message trying to import a site

Issue Summary

I get the following error message when trying to create/import a site to Local. I had been using Local successfully importing my site earlier this week.

“unable to import site error: eexist file already exists; mkdir”

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
Currently - I don’t have any sites running on local. I deleted a test site thinking it might correct the problem.

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Yes I can.

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

Normal steps are taken to import a site all the way up to adding my live site’s zip file then the error message pops up.

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    Version: 5.10.1+5267

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?
    Windows 10 Home Version 1909

  • Attach the Local Log. See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:
    local-lightning.log (122.8 KB)

So, any thoughts from the community? Local worked great for a day then the error message.

My solution was to use BlogVault. Quick, easy, cost a little bit of $ but my time is more valuable.

Hey @attollo, welcome to the forums!

Sorry that you ended up paying for another piece of software. That specific error of:

unable to import site error: eexist file already exists; mkdir

is interesting and may hint at a bug within Local. mkdir is a command for unix-y systems, so what looks like is happening is that Windows is trying to create a file called mkdir.

Did you get this error for any site that is trying to be imported into Local?

I spent a little time today trying to replicate this on my Windows machine and haven’t been able to recreate this error.

@attollo – I’m happy to take a closer look at things if you can get be a backup that has this issue. Feel free to DM me if you aren’t wanting to share the site backup publicly.

Thanks!
