Keep getting an "Installation Aborted" message whenever I try installing Local

Hey guys!

I recently tried updating to 5.5.3 from my existing installation, but I got an “Installation Aborted” message.

I tried uninstalling & then installing anew to see if that helped, but no joy (please see the video in the attached zip file: 2020-06-13_13-42-23.zip (64.0 KB) ). I’ve also tried:

  • Choosing “Anyone who uses this computer (all users)” instead.
  • Running the installer as Administrator.
  • Choosing a different installation folder.

But none of that helped. Is there anything more needed from my end?

I tried this with the 5.6.1 release, but I’m still getting the same error. Any word on this one?

Also tried this with the 5.6.2 release.

Couldn’t get the 5.6.3 installer to work initially, but after digging into this further, it seems that not everything was removed the first time I uninstalled Local. I ended up resolving this by going the following:

#1: Extracting the uninstaller from the latest executable via 7-Zip.
#2: Running the uninstaller to uninstall for all users.
#3: Running the uninstaller again, though telling it to uninstall for my user.

After doing this & retrying the 5.6.3 installer, it worked this time.
