Moving Local personal site to organization workspace

Local for Teams allows you to share the local development process of a WordPress site with other members of your Flywheel organization, which is awesome! But what about sites you’ve already built in your personal account? We can move those over to your Organization workspace inside Local really easily.

This feature is only available to customers subscribed to our Local for Teams product.

Three methods to switch your Local site from personal to an organization:

Right-click site in personal workspace

When in your personal workspace, right click on a site and select “Change Workspace.”

Local for Teams Right Click Switch Ownership

Select your associated workspaces and voila! You’re done!

Export from personal, import as organization

Begin by export the site from your personal workspace.

Then, delete the site from your personal workspace.

Finally, switch to your the workspace for your team in Local.

Then re-import the site.

Pull down a copy of a site hosted on Flywheel

If an up-to-date version of your website already exists on your Flywheel hosting account and this site is already owned by your Organization, there’s another easy option available to you. You can pull down a copy of this site using Connect to Flywheel.

Begin by switching your Local workspace to your Organization.

Now, following our guide on Connect to Flywheel, pull the site you want to import to your Organization’s workspace.

When you’re all done, you can use the team-switcher to return to your personal Local workspace and delete this version of the site.

If you need any help along the way with Local for Teams, you can always reach out to our support team through the Local app or by contacting us through the Flywheel app.
