Local in 504

Issue Summary

When I try to go on my local website I have most of the time some 504 errors. And It’s really slow for local website.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular? All

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
I didn’t try, I’ve import my website with two differents configurations just to see if it was configuration related.

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used? 5.10.5+5403

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional Window 10 Famillelocal-lightning.log (37.6 KB)
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:

A 504 error means that Local’s router is waiting for something upstream – in this case, the individual WordPress site.

A good test would be to create a new, plain WordPress site to see if it has those same issues.

If it is isolated to this one site, then it’s likely a performance issue with how the site was built. Some common things would be a very large DB, or complex queries that are being run on a computer that doesn’t have enough resources.

For troubleshooting WordPress performance issues, I often recommend using the Query Monitor plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/ It allows you to get detailed information about what kinds queries are being run in order to generate a page. In addition to that, you can see if there are any specific errors within the site’s logs folder.
