Wordpress stuck in maintenance mode with Local by FlyWheel

Hey there,

I tried updating a plugin while working on a local site using Local by FlyWheel for MacOS. The site has become stuck in maintenance mode. WPBeginner says to remove the .maintenance file. Where can I find this file? I tried using Adminer but no results…

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Hey there. I’m having the same issue. Were you able to get a resolution?

Yes, this solution works. The “.maintenance” file is in your root/app/public/ folder. You can rename it as well. Same effect.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open Macintosh HD or the folder where you want to display the hidden files in the Finder.
  2. Hold down the Command, Shift and Period keys: cmd + shift + [.]
  3. The hidden files and folders on your Mac will then appear partially transparent.
  4. You can hide the files again using the same keyboard shortcut.
