Adding 1st site - stuck on loading "Wordpress Version" for long long time

Running Local/Flywheel on Mac and can’t seem to load my first site.
Gets stuck on loading “Wordpress Version” for long long time. Like hours.
Have tried reinstall. Mac restart. Can’t find anyone with this issue.
Machine is a bit old, macbook running 10.13.6
Help, I’m falling at the first hurdle! : )

Hey @mickmick, welcome to the forums! It’s possible that the older computer could be an issue, but let’s take a closer look!

Can you please provide your Local Log? See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:

Ok thanks. local-lightning.log (60.4 KB)

I’m having the same problem. I am also on mac os 10.13.6

Continuing the discussion from Adding 1st site - stuck on loading "Wordpress Version" for long long time:

I, too, have the exact same problem running the same OS version.

Welcome to the Local Community Forums @kenmackenzie – and thanks for that version info!

That’s definitely an odd thing within the logs, which makes me think that there may have been a recent bug with Local on High Sierra.

Has Local ever been installed and working on this computer, with this version of the OS? If you are in a position to do so, can you update macOS to a more recent version?

WordPress is not being installed!!!

I’ve got the same issue. Just the two dots flashing in WordPress Version. I’m trying to install on OSX High Sierra version 10.13.5

How do I solve this problem?

I am having the exact same issue. I would really appreciate it if someone could help out. I can’t find anywhere online to fix this issue.
Thanks.

I am also on mac os 10.13.6 and I’m having the same problem : (

Hey @kmproofread and @hossain541 – I’ve moved your topic into this one since it all seems related to a Local issue within Mac High Sierra.

Can you two please provide your Local Log? See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:

Thanks Ben, but I solved the problem. This is what I did: Go to: Preferences; Advanced; Change the Router Mode to “Local Host” in the drop down; press the Apply Button; then try adding a new site. This worked for me : )

Many thanks for your advice.
I took a more pragmatic approach and uninstalled the whole Local thing and went with
standard Apache & MySQL.

Nothing wrong with Local, but it added yet another layer of complexity and issues.

Thanks for your reply, Ben. No, I’ve never installed Local before, and no I don’t want to upgrade the OS just to try Local - sorry,

No worries! I’m glad you’re able to get a solution that works for you! Have a great day!

You are right, I seem to have wasted like 10 days following every post and thread but none of it worked. Every single time some new error keeps on popping up, from the issues people are having over here I agree that the tried and tested traditional approach will be the way for me too
